2016 Western New York F.A.M.E. - Music

Kamp Crystal Lake performs Friday August 12th at 6:30 pm

Horror themed rap. Formed in the end of summer of 2010 Kamp Crystal Lake became an instant crowd favorite with cult following in the Buffalo music scene. Their dark imagery and even darker lyrical content, has often been described as listening to short horror movies on record. The name Kamp Crystal Lake itself spawned from the Friday The 13th movie franchise where psychotic serial killer Jason Voorhees terrorizes all those who cross into his domain, Camp Crystal Lake. The group stays true to that very core bringing Horror to a whole new level of music, while putting out a very heavy hitting hardcore sound with a deadly lyrical groove, topped with catchy blood splattered hooks.

Since 2010, Anonymous Willpower has been shaking their tail feathers all over New York, dazzling crowds of beloved fans to burst into rhapsody, astonishing the people on the dance floor, and shortening audiences trousers with their sumptuous and passionate shows.

The Anonymous Willpower quintet, fronted by chameleon chanteuse Suzi Willpower, and Don Anonymous, the wizard behind the keyboard with the large voodoo hat, put on a show. Willpower’s Blues & Diesel powerhouse vocals are complimented by Anonymous' New Orleans Blues ivories.

Along with their band, Anonymous Willpower hit the scene with diverse musical backgrounds to make up a profoundly clever and visionary ensemble with 1970’s R&B splashed in their originals. With guitar, keys, bass, percussion and multiple vocalists, this embodiment has the tools to deliver a melange of Blues, Rock, Roots, Reggae, Jazz, Meringue in unrestrained resonance and consummate accord, and the band is working on recording their second CD, One More Medicine Show. You are certain to always remember this Steam & Soul Revival Outfit from the Mecca of Freaks.

The Nigh performs Sunday August 14th at 1:00 pm

THE NIGH is a dark indie alternative band from Buffalo, NY. While comparisons to the likes of Modest Mouse, Brand New, Joy Division and The Cure may cross your mind, these are only fleeting thoughts. The aforementioned examples act merely as points of reference as THE NIGH has been cultivating a niche of their own starting in the heart of the Buffalo music scene and expanding outward. THE NIGH released their debut LP Fluorescent Sun on May 13, 2016 and has received a warm reception from critics and fans alike.

"The Nigh does our music scene certain justice with their dark release, Fluorescent Sun...dreamy synth and beautiful falsetto...the music as a whole seems to pull upwards"

Genesee Johnny performs Sunday August 14th at 3:00 pm

Vocalist, guitarist, songwriter Genesee Johnny, is a 33 year old native of Rochester, NY. His name comes from the river that runs through his home town, his sound through a devotion to the Blues.
As with many guitarists, Genesee Johnny was initially influenced by the great rock artists of the 60's, 70's and 80's. Starting off in a rock band his interest soon turned to songwriting, traditional Folk, Blue Grass and ultimately, the Blues. From first seeing the name SON HOUSE, on a Jimi Hendrix album, to today, as a member of the local blues community, Genesee Johnny is known for a booming voice and with his bottleneck slide on the resonator guitar he is helping to keep the blues and the music of SON HOUSE alive.
Genesee Johnny can be seen and heard hosting "Son House Night," (presently on the 4th Thursday of the month at Sticky Lips BBQ, in Henrietta, NY) as well as several other venues around WNY. The album, NATIONAL GRID, recorded with his band, The River Rats, contains covers of the SON HOUSE compositions, "Death Letter," and "Grinning in Your Face." A follow up album is to be released in 2016 and hopefully a short Mississippi Blues Trail Concert Tour will follow. Influenced heavily by SON HOUSE, Genesee Johnny feels that being part of the JOURNEY TO THE SON celebration is "a dream come true!"
